Toni Aleo scores a hat trick with the third book of the Bellevue Bullies’ Series Hooked by Love. The story takes place in the youngest Sinclair brother, Jace’s, last year of college. He is captain of his hockey team and expected to go first in the NHL draft. The last thing on his agenda is to get serious about a girl. That is until he meets Avery, a singer/songwriter and fellow student.
You can always count on Toni Aleo to include curtain things in her Bellevue Bullies and Assassins Series novels: heartfelt real-world issues, lovable characters, and great hockey scenes. Hooked by Love did not disappoint. I absolutely loved this story. The Sinclair family is the best. I adore every one of them. I love that the story is told in both Jace’s and Avery’s point of views. The characters are well developed. Jace and Avery both grow a lot throughout the story. My heart broke for Avery and everything she endured. There are so many unexpected surprises and an extraordinary plot. I could not put this book down.
While you could follow this book as a stand-alone, I highly recommend reading the books in order. You’ll have a greater appreciation for the bond of the family and some of the previous event that took place. The Bellevue Bullies is a great choice for people that enjoy contemporary new adult sports romances that have emotional substance.
